The Sound Before the Sound

Image accompanying The Sound Before the Sound
Three young men stand, ancient words open in their hands. The rabbi wears the prayer of generations. Upon the white table, the shofar waits— a curved silence holding Abraham’s breath. Behind them, a father watches— not outside the prayer, but within it. The toys of childhood still rest beside the wall. The sons have risen. Soon the horn will speak, and every wandering soul will remember the way home.
